Your Ideal Client

Understanding your ideal client is essential for reaching the right people in your marketing. It’s quite often an exercise we dread, especially when it doesn’t bring us any more clarity or connection. That’s why you’re going to create a full, rich person and use them as your named ideal client when thinking about your marketing!

1. Create Your Ideal Client

Build up a model client with a name, life, family, hobbies, and full, rich back story. Include the details of their days, what do they look forward to at the weekend? What constraints do they have that limit their options at times? What history do they have with services like yours?

It can help to think of past clients you loved working with, perhaps blending 2-3 people into one for your marketing.

2. What are their current struggles as they relate to your services?

What problems is your named client currently dealing with, and how does your service help them with those problems?

What problems is your client currently dealing with that could make it harder for them to access your services?

3. What would make it as easy as possible for them to use your services?

Include how easy you are to find, how easy it is to understand your services, and how easy it is to buy from you.

4. How aware of your services is your client?

They may need what you do, but if they don’t know about you they can’t consider you as an option. How can you increase their awareness of you?

5. Which of your key messages are the most important for this person to hear?

If you’re not sure what your key messages are, drop me a message and I’ll send you an exercise to work them out.

6. What are the opportunities you have to connect with more people like your client?

Is there anything stopping you connecting with your client?

7. What information do you have that would support them?

Can you create any resources that would support them and build their desire to work with you? How can you take them from 0 to 1 so your services can take them from 1 to 100?

Keep this information somewhere visible and easy to access so you can return to it as you create your marketing strategy and content!
